It's time for another Senior Spotlight, presented by You Are There Sports and the Pierz School District!  Let's get to know Zach Becker a little bit better, as he joins Rick Grammond to discuss the Business Professionals of America program and his hopes for a successful Track and Field season this upcoming Spring!

The Pioneers used a high-energy attack to defeat the Cubs 85-68 in their final home game of the season. Leading the charge was Brandon Stuckmayer, who poured in a career-high 27 points.  Peter Schommer had 15, Michael Leidenfrost 11 and Jonah Prokott 10.  Robbie Schaefer had 6, Ryan Stuckmayer 3, Mason Zajac 2 and Charles Pekar had 3 for the now 14-10 Pioneers.

The Pioneers beat the Panthers 79-39 in non-conference action behind 5 players in scoring in double figures.  Brandon Stuckmayer led the way with 15, followed by Peter Schommer's 14, 12 for Jonah Prokott and 11 points each for Robbie Schaefer and Michael Leidenfrost.

The Pioneers downed the Huskies 59-42 in their final game of the regular season to finish with a 12-13 record.  Kylie Waytashek scored 13 to lead Pierz, Emily Dehler had 12, Courtney Strohmeier 10, Emily Sadlovsky 9, Rabeka Langer 8, Laura Skiba 5 and Decorah Iverson 2.

The Pioneers lost a close 67-64 game to the visiting Jaguars on Senior Night.  Jonah Prokott hit 7 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 25 points while Peter Schommer added 16 and Michael Leidenfrost 10.  Evan Wiener paced the Jaguars with a 20 point night.

The Pioneers battled back from an 11 point deficit at halftime to tie the game with just over 7 minutes left, but the Cubs were able to withstand the potential Pierz comeback and defeat the Pioneers 51-46 in the Pioneers final CMC game.  Amaya Rocheleau led the way with 12 points, Courtney Strohmeier had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Rabeka Langer scored 10.

The Pioneers Dual season came to an end at the hands of the powerful Yellowjackets in the Section 8AA Semifinals in Thief River Falls when 2nd ranked Perham earned a 57-11 victory. The Pioneers managed 3 wins against Perham: a 4-0 decision for Jake Andres, a 15-0 Tech Fall for Reese Kapsner and a 5-2 decision for Austin Dickmann.

The 4th seeded Pioneers and 5th seeded Road Crew battle through 6 lead changes in the Section 8AA Quarterfinals in Thief River Falls before the Pioneers win the final 3 matches to advance to the Semifinals with a 40-29 win.  Trevor Radunz, Austin Radunz, Reese Kapsner and Carson Huls win by Fall, Brandon Funk dominated for a 17-1 Tech Fall, Jake Andres and Austin Dickmann picked up bonus points...

The Pioneers closed out their busiest week of the season with a 62-34 loss in St. Cloud to the Cathedral Crusaders on Friday.  Playing their 4th game in 5 nights and with 2 players unavailable against a very good team, the Pioneers still gave it their all.  Courtney Strohmeier led Pierz with 9 points while Megan Voit of the Crusaders netted 22 to lead all scorers.

The Pioneers defeated the Lakers 81-62 in a game played at Halenbeck Hall at SCSU. Sparked by 12 first half points from Jonah Prokott, the Pioneers grabbed a 32-24 lead after the first half.  In the 2nd half, the Pioneers built their lead to as many as 23 at 61-38 with 7:23 left to play.  The Lakers made one final push, cutting the lead to 11 at 67-56 with 3:32 left to play, but the Pioneers co...

The Pioneers beat the Huskers 74-58 at the MAC in the final CMC meeting between the two longtime rivals. Michael Leidenfrost got the Pioneers going with 14 points in the 1st half, on his way to a game-high 18 for the night.  Jonah Prokott added 12 points, as did Robbie Schaefer, who was a perfect 5-5 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line.  Peter Schommer also scored in double figures ...

The Pioneers fall behind 22-8 midway through the first half to the Cubs but a 12-0 scoring run cuts the Kimball lead to 2 at 22-20 late in the half.  Pierz would get as close as 33-32 with just over 13 minutes left to play but could never fully overcome the Cubs, eventually falling by a score of 59-49 at the MAC.  Courtney Strohmeier tied her career high with 15 points to lead the Pioneers whil...

I had a very enjoyable visit with another of the Class of 2019 at Pierz High School when I had an opportunity to get to know Hayley Ausmus. The Pioneers made it 3 wins in a row with a 74-62 victory over the visiting Eagles.  Peter Schommer led 4 Pioneers in double figures with 20 points, Brandon Stuckmayer scored 16, Jonah Prokott 12 and Michael Leidenfrost 11 with Brent Schilling providing a scoring spark off the bench with 9 points.  Josh Streit and Kobe Beattie led EVW with 14 points each.

The Pioneers fell 58-35 to the Huskers at the MAC in CMC action.  Emily Dehler led Pierz with 8 points and 7 rebounds while Kylie Waytashek and Emily Sadlovsky added 6 points each.  Grace Gerads led all scorers, netting 17 for the Huskers while Danielle Lyon scored 15 and Carolynn Becker scored 12.

The Pioneers defeated the Huskies 65-49 in a key Section 7AA game at the MAC on Monday.  Four Pioneers scored in double figures, led by Jonah Prokott with 12, Robbie Schaefer with a career-best 11, and matching 10 point games from Peter Schommer and Nick Scholl.

In their second CMC Dual at the Holdingford Triangular on Saturday, the Pioneers used 5 first period Falls and a Forfeit in the final 6 matches to pull away from the Bulldogs for a 56-19 win.  Blske Brutger opened with a 3-0 Win to go 2-0 on the day for Pierz and then Trevor Radunz earned a Fall to make it 9-0. The Pioneers went to Holdingford on Saturday to make up a CMC Triangular along with Paynesville.  The Pioneers opened the event with a Dual against the Huskers and got a Major Decision wins from Trevor Radunz and Blake Brutger to get things rolling on their way to a 56-18 victory.  Brandon Funk then won a Decision,followed by 3 straight Forfeit Wins for Jake Andres,Ross Boser and Frank Tomberli...

The Pioneers fall 49-19 to a very good #3 ranked Falcons team on Friday at the MAC. The Pioneers get wins by Fall from Reese Kapsner and Carson Huls, a Major Decision from Brandon Tomala and a Decision from Trevor Radunz.

The Pioneers played their most complete game of the season with a 65-50 win over the Irish at the MAC.  The Pioneers fell behind by a double-digit margin in the 1st half but rallied to take a 30-29 lead at halftime.  In the 2nd half, the Pioneers built their lead to as many as 20 (59-39) using excellent passing, defense and rebounding.  Michael Leidenfrost led the Pioneers with 15, Jonah Prokot...

The Pioneers returned to CMC action on a brutally cold Thursday night when they made their final trip to Kimball to face the Cubs.  Pierz trailed 31-25 at halftime, but took a 49-48 lead on a Brent Schilling 3-pointer with 2:00 left to play.  The Cubs were able to come back and close out the game on a 10-4 scoring run after that to defeat the Pioneers 58-53.  Peter Schommer led the Pioneers wit...

The Pioneers fall 56-15 to the undefeated, 3rd ranked Eagles at the MAC as Rabeka Langer scores 8 points, Courtney Strohmeier 3 , Emily Dehler 2 and Kylie Waytashek 2.

The Pioneers let a double-digit lead in the second half slip away as the Lakers rallied to defeat Pierz 55-51.  Nick Scholl made the most of his starting assignment by posting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Brandon Stuckmayer also had 12 points and Michael Leidenfrost scored 11.  Brock Bangasser led the Lakers with 16, Brandon Karels had 13 and it was Carson Woolhouse's 13...

The Pioneers lose 68-52 in Brooten to the Jaguars with Peter Schommer scoring 15, Michael Leidenfrost 12, Jonah Prokott 11 and Brandon Stuckmayer 9.  After trailing by double digits midway through the 2nd half, the Pioneers cut their deficit to 3 with less than 7 minutes left, but couldn't finish the comeback as the Jaguars held on for the win.

The Pioneers beat the Warriors 63-12 at the Little Falls Quad, winning the final 7 matches either by Fall or Forfeit.  Trevor Radunz, Jake Andres, Ross Boser, Brandon Tomala, Riley Hoskins,Tanner Young and Jacob Gotvald won by Fall, Reese Kapsner, Carson Huls and Austin Dickmann won by Forfeit and Jacob Leblanc won by Decision.

The Pioneers beat the Lightning 55-15 in their first Dual at the Little Falls Quad.  Austin Radunz, Reese Kapsner and Austin Dickmann won by Fall, Brandon Funk won by Tech Fall, Trevor Radunz and Tanner Young earned Major Decision victories, Brandon Tomala and Carson Huls won by Decision and Jake Andres, Ross Boser and Riley Hoskins all picked up wins by Forfeit.

The Pioneers beat the Mustangs 48-33 to earn their first Dual meet win of the season. The Pioneers won 8 matches, all by Fall, with Trevor Radunz, Sebastian Warzecha, Jake Andres, Brandon Funk, Austin Radunz, Brandon Tomala, Reese Kapsner and Carson Huls all getting their hands raised.

The Pioneers roll to their 3rd consecutive win with a 64-22 victory over the Bulldogs.  Amaya Rocheleau led a balanced scoring attack with a career-best 14 points, followed by Rabeka Langer's 10 points.

The Pioneers lose 67-47 to the Falcons in Foley to drop to 2-2.  Jonah Prokott leads Pierz wit a 14 point effort, followed by a career-best 13 points from Brent Schilling.  But the night really belonged to Foley Senior Drew Beier, who poured in 24 points, including a basket in final seconds of the first half that was his milestone 1,000th career point.
