The Pioneers rolled to a 68-47 non-conference win over the Bombers, paced by a career-high 18 points from Sophomore Alyssa Sadlovsky.  Kiara Olesch got things going early, scoring all 18 of her points in the 1st half and Ashley Kimman notched 12 points as Pierz won for the 8th time in 11 games.

The Pioneers give an outstanding effort against the 9th ranked Huskies but fall short by a 62-56 final score.  Noah Oberfeld led Pierz with 17 while both Ben Virnig and Zach Jones scored 13 points.

The Pioneers improve to 3-0 in Granite Ridge Conference play with a 59-40 win over the Crusaders.  Ashley Kimman led the scoring with 14 while Lyndsey Strohmeier added 11 and Kiara Olesch had 10 as Pierz snapped a 3-game losing streak.

It was a tale of two half's as the Pioneers built a 37-26 lead over the Mustangs after the 1st 18 minutes, but Mora turned it around in the 2nd half to post a 65-58 win in the Granite Ridge Conference opener.

The Pioneers lose a 61-59 Double Overtime thriller to the Hilltoppers in the Granite City Classic at St. Ben's as the Pioneers convert 2 turnovers into layups in the final :14 to tie the game at 59-59, only to see Duluth Marshall win it at the buzzer.

The Pioneers lose 64-34 to the Fire in Sartell at the Granite City Classic.  Lyndsey Strohmeier and Katie Leidenfrost scored 7 points each for Pierz as they fall to 6-1 this season.

The final episode of the season brings you the classic poem by Clement Clarke Moore "A Visit from St. Nicholas".  Then we end the program with a story from the Holy Bible as the Gospel of Luke shares with us the story of the birth of the baby Jesus.  Thank you all for listening and may you have a Blessed Christmas!

In this episode, we listen to "The Pokey Little Puppy's First Christmas" and "I'm a Reindeer" for the children,  The final story of the night comes from Hans Christian Anderson and it reminds us to truly appreciate the magic and beauty of the moment at hand rather than be so concerned with the past or future.  The fairy tale is "The Fir Tree".

In this episode, we listen to four short feel-good stories relating to handmade gifts from Mom, Christmas-time birthdays, a new home at Christmas and the joy of giving at Christmas.   

Tonight we get the pleasure of listening to a pair of Holiday classics. The first story of the night is the timeless telling of the Christmas fantasy story of The Nutcracker.  The second story is one of a dying child's dreams and hopes on the final night of the year. It is Hans Christian Anderson's poignant story "The Little Match Girl".

In the third episode of the 8 Nights of Christmas, children can enjoy listening to the re-telling of the classic 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".  Then, sit back and enjoy "Christmas at Red Butte" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This charming short story takes us to the frozen prairies of Canada in the 1800's and a young orphan girl's unselfish Christmas gift to her cousins.

The Pioneers get a career-high 23 points from Lyndsey Strohmeier to defeat the Wolves 61-56 in the Granite Ridge Conference opener for both teams.  Pierz improves to 5-0 with the victory.

I hope you enjoy a reading of Selma Lagerlof's "The Holy Night" to begin the 8 Nights of Christmas Readings with Rick.  The author recalls sitting with her Grandmother and listening to her tell stories.  After the Grandmother's passing, many years later the author fondly recalls a special story that retells the birth of the Christ child.

The Pioneers pass another road test with flying colors as they travel to Pine City and defeat a good Dragons team 59-48 to improve to 4-0, with 3 of those victories coming on the road  Kiara Olesch nearly had a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Lyndsey Strohmeier scored all 11 of her points in the 2nd half and Alyssa Sadlovsky had her best all-around game with 10 points, ...

The Pioneers improved to 3-0 with a dominating 74-30 win over the Cardinals.  11 different players were able to score and all 17 players got into the game.  Kiara Olesch and Katie Leidenfrost led the way with 13 points each and Britney Schommer had her first career double figure game with 10 points.

The Pioneers send two Individuals to Championship matches as Chase Becker(138) and Trevor Radunz go after Titles and Derek Stangl (138), Jacob LeBlanc (152) and Daniel Hoffman (220) battle through Consolation rounds and Placing matches.

The Pioneers get their season underway by sending Derek Stangl (132), Chase Becker (138), Trevor Radunz (145), Jacob LeBlanc (152), Frank Tomberlin (160), Derrick Przybilla (170) and Daniel Hoffman (220) to the Hornet Individual Invitational.

The Pioneers improved to 2-0 with a 55-50 victory over the Bulldogs as Zach Jones scored a career-high 20 to lead Pierz, while Noah Oberfeld finished with 12 and Kirby Fischer had 11 to lead the offense.  Gene Skiba also had a major impact with 8 points and 16 rebounds.  Lucas Miller led Swanville with a 20 point game.

The Pioneers rallied for a 50-46 win over the Bulldogs in the season opener for both teams. Katie Leidenfrost scored a career-best 17 points for Pierz while Swanville's Lauren Miller scored 19 to lead all scorers. 

The Wildcats staged an epic 4th quarter comeback, scoring 3 touchdowns in the final 8:19 of the game to win a thrilling Section 6AAA Championship by a score of 28-24 over the Pioneers.  The winning score came on a 28 yard touchdown pass with just :12 left in the game.

The Pioneers beat the Tigers 29-6 with their most complete game of the season.  Running Back's Trevor Radunz, Jacob LeBlanc and Reese Young each gained at least 100 yards, kicker Linus Heidemann established a new Pierz school record for "points by a Kicker in a Game" with 11 when he nailed 3 Field Goals and added 2 extra-points and the defense forced 2 critical turnovers and shut out the Tigers...

The Pioneers season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to the Dutchmen in the Section 6AA Playoffs by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-6.

The Pioneers beat the Lakers 48-18 in their first round game, using a punishing ground game that amassed 416 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Leading the way was Sophomore RB Reese Young with a career-high 207 yards and 3 scores.

The Pioneers lost 16-0 to the Royals in the final game of the regular season. Zach Ellerbusch caught a 4 yard touchdown pass from Drew Yourczek on Royalton's 1st possession, then Will Gorecki scampered 11 yards for a 2nd quarter touchdown as the Royals  finish 7-1 and secure a #1 seed in Section 5AA while Pierz finishes 5-3 and will be the #2 seed in the Section 6AAA Playoffs.

The Pioneers sent their 10 Seniors out in grand style with a 3-0 win over the Flyers by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-14 in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Pioneers JV played their final match of the season and came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision to the Little Falls Flyers by scores of 16-25, 10-25, 17-15.

The Pioneers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Silverstreaks by scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 28-26 as both teams played their next-to-last match of the regular season in Osakis.

The Pioneers lose 3-0 to the Huskies by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-17. With the win, Albany clinched the Granite Ridge Conference title.   

The Pioneers edged the Dutchmen 26-20 in Week 6 when Andy Winscher scored with just :09 left in the game.  Both Trevor Radunz and Jacob LeBlanc eclipsed 100 yards rushing and combined for 3 touchdowns as the Pioneers improved to 5-1.

The Pioneers rally from down 2-1 to defeat the Crusaders 3-2 in St. Cloud in an electrifying match to upset the Granite Ridge Conference co-leaders on their home court.  Game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13.  It was a complete team effort that Coach Fischer referred to afterwards as the most satisfying victory in her tenure as Head Coach.

The Pioneers lose 3-0 to the Falcons by scores of 20-25, 20-25, 18-25 to end a 4-match winning streak. 

The Pioneers earned a hard-fought Week 5 victory with a 25-22 win at Big Cat Stadium in Morris over the Tigers.  Linus Heidemann booted a pair of 26-yard field goals, Reese Young and Zach Jones rushed for touchdowns Trevor Radunz came up with 3 turnovers, including a pick-six in the 1st quarter and a late game interception in the endzone to stop a MACA rally. The Pioneers played their most complete match of the season with a 3-0 sweep over the Wolves by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-21.  The Pioneers were clicking in all phases of the game with a varied offensive attack and a defense that was making all the right reads.

The Pioneers edged the Huskers 3-2 in an epic 5-set match in Holdingford.  The Pioneers took the first two sets 25-23 and 25-14, only to see the Huskers battle back with wins of 25-23 and 25-20 to force a decisive 5th set.  Holdingford took an early lead in the 5th but Pierz surged ahead to finish off the Huskers with a 15-7 victory.

The Pioneers get touchdowns from Kirby Fischer and Zach Jones but the Rockets are able to pull off the upset of Class AAA's #1 ranked team with a 20-12 victory on Homecoming and Hall of Fame Night in Pierz.

The Pioneers won their second match of the week with a 3-1 road victory at Little Falls by scores of 25-18, 24-26, 25-12, 25-18.  Serving was a major component in the Pioneers win with a team serving percentage of 96% (86-90), led by Kiara Olesch going 31-31 with 7 aces, Katie Leidenfrost was 20-20 with 2 aces. and Peyton Magney was 13-13.

The Pioneers broke open a 6-6 game at halftime with 28 unanswered points to beat the Thunder Hawks 34-6 in Week 3.  Reese Young exploded for 185 yards rushing, including touchdown runs of 55 and 74 yards and also brought the 2nd half kickoff back 79 yards for a score.  Zach Jones scored on a 25 yard run in the 2nd quarter and Jacob LeBlanc capped the scoring with a fine 23 yard run in the 4th q...

The Pioneers fall 3-0 to the Crusaders by identical scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 in front of a Parents Night crowd at the MAC.

The Pioneers post their second straight shutout to begin the 2021 season with a 41-0 victory over the Lakers at the Home Opener for Pierz.  Trevor Radunz ran for 2 touchdowns, Kirby Fischer added a rushing touchdown and a punt return for touchdown and Zach Jones and Mitchell Smude also found the end zone.  Reese Young went 5-6 on extra-point kicks and also had an interception while Kolby Brezin...

The Pioneers celebrate their Home Opener with a 3-0 sweep of the Thunder by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-16.  Peyton Magney and Ashley Kimman registered 7 kills each, Katie Leidenfrost was solid defensively with 12 digs, Kiara Olesch dished out 12 assists and Maddie Lochner, Katie Leidenfrost, Peyton Magney and Kiara Olesch were all perfect from the service line in the Pioneers victory.

The Pioneers fall 3-0 to the Patriots by scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-23.

The Skis capture the State Title in thrilling fashion by scoring 3 times in the top of the 11th to defeat the Red Devils 3-0 in Waconia.  Collin Eckman drove in Alex Gwost with a single, Beau Hanowski scored on a wild pitch and Ben Hanowski slammed an rbi double to provide the runs that Sobieski needed to break the 0-0 tie.  State Tournament MVP Caleb Strack pitched a Complete Game shutout for ...

The Skis beat the Black Sox 9-6 to advance to the Class C State Championship.  Beau Hanowski drove in 4 runs and Jake Kapphahn drove in 3, including a solo Homer.  Ethan Branum worked 8 2/3 for the Win, with Chad Weiss getting the Save.  Skis catcher Riley Hirsch picked a runner of 2nd for the final out of the game as the Black Sox were set to bring the potential tying run to the plate.

The Skis beat the Muskies 5-1 in the Quarterfinals, using a 3-run 1st inning.  Chad Weiss, a draftee from the Pierz Lakers tossed a Complete Game as the Skis advanced to the State Semifinals.

Caleb Strack hurled his second Complete Game shutout of the State Tournament as the Skis blanked the Saints 5-0 in a Sweet 16 game in Waconia.  Strack allowed just 2 hits and struck out 11. The Pioneers opened the 2021 season with a 20-0 win over the Huskers in a game played in rainy conditions in Sauk Centre.  Kirby Fischer scored on a 1st quarter run of 39 yards to put Pierz ahead 6-0.  The Pioneers then added another 2 touchdowns in the final 5 minutes of the game on a 66 yard pass from Andy Winscher to Zach Jones and a 17 yard run from Kirby Fischer for the 20-0 final.
