After the murder of two police officers in New York - an "assassination", says the city's Police Commissioner - the city's police unions angrily claimed Mayor Bill de Blasio had "blood on his hands". After weeks of "I Can't Breathe" protests following the police killing of Eric Garner, there's now open public hostility between the police and the city's political leadership.
