Tony Abbott survives leadership spill move

Tony Abbott remains prime minister after a move to spill the Liberal leadership failed. Liberal MPs voted 61-39 to defeat a motion by two backbenchers. A Newspoll, published ahead of the meeting, showed Labor leading the coalition 57-43%.
