HTE 020: 7 Years to Overnight Success w/ Dan Norris

Oct 28, 2014, 03:03 PM

Today’s guest worked for a year and spent $60,000 on a software business that was generating a monthly loss of $1,500. He was 1 month away from needing to find a job.

He racked his brain for ideas and came up with the idea for WPCurve --- a service that gives anyone 24 / 7 access to a Wordpress developer for maintenance and small fixes --- he did this on a Saturday.

By Tuesday he launched the site using a $40 WP theme and had the service in place.

On Wednesday 3 people signed up.

Within a week he had 10 signups and it was generating more than the previous software business. Within a month it was generating $1,000 with 20 customers and was breaking even.

This past month WPCurve generated $39,710 in revenue.

He is also the author of the Amazon bestselling book The 7-day Startup!

Oh, and he’s Australian, so he may curse a little.

Now..

Let’s hack Dan Norris.

What you will learn in this episode:

There are no skills essential to being successful Only compare yourself and your work to the best Why nothing is essential to a startup taking off Blogging is really important for Dan, but not necessarily for everyone Why you need to learn to become referable
