The Social Network Show welcomes Chris Camillo to the May 7, 2014 episode.
People use social media in a lot of different and creative ways, today's show with Chris Camillo gives us a whole new look at how to use social media. Chris, a self directed investor and author of Laughing at Wall Street, shares how he uses social chatter and social trends to make investment decisions. Listen to the show to hear him talk about the following: the advantages of making your own investments; what he thinks about 401k plans; how to use social networks like Twitter to find out information on companies and social trends; and how to spot investment opportunities as shown by some examples of his own investments.
Chris Camillo, a pioneer in social information arbitrage investing, is the author of Laughing at Wall Street (St Martin’s Press, 2011). In 2006, he leveraged social information analysis to invest $20,000 in the stock market, and in just over 3 years, grew it to more than $2 million. He is a regular speaker on the real and perceived predictive effectiveness of social chatter on public securities markets and its role in investment analysis. Chris also sits on the board of directors for HedgeChatter, one of the first companies to track social media influence on stock prices.
