Beaten, but not Broken
In what may be our most important episode to date, Neel Nanda generously and bravely shares the stories of abuse that he, his sister, and his mother dealt with at the hands of his father.
In the previous episode, while exploring why Neel felt such an aversion to Desi culture and their women, Akaash noticed a pattern: Neel would never say anything positive about his father. As you heard, Akaash eventually asked about his father, not knowing where it would lead. Join as we go down a path of unwarranted attacks that led to multiple stays at the hospital and a childhood of silence and isolation. Join as we discuss the immediate need of our community to be better at stepping in when things are wrong, instead of simply leaving it to the family. Join as Neel presents a model of compassion and the attitude of learning so we can be better in the future. And also please join in a discussion that can hopefully allow for children to be safer and our community to be better.
This is simply something that we can never allow to happen again- and sadly it is far too common.
