There are many traditional paths we can go down in the South Asian American community; however, this week we find someone traveling a traditional path in an unconventional way. Meet Pallavi Dhawan: deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County DA's Office . Not only did she eschew corporate law to work with family crime dealing with rape and assault in the home, she is a woman working in a typically male world. We delve into her work, and how she copes on a daily basis with such an emotionally taxing position. We discuss her upbringing and what brought her to this field, and how her Indianness affects her, both in court and with those she serves. But work is only part of her life; and as we start to discuss her personal life. the conversation moves into the realm of dating.
