The host of Women Worldwide, Deirdre Breakenridge, welcomes her guest, Sara Capra, former senior associate of global partnerships at the United Nations Foundation. Sara left non-profit life to pursue her entrepreneurial adventures. She launched her start up company, Orate, which is an online marketplace for conference organizers to find public speakers.
On the show, Sara discusses how she teamed up with a friend and co-founder, Veronica Eklund, who specialized in marketing for content-focused speaker events. Together they took their business idea to Startup Weekend in Washington, DC in April 2014. Throughout an intense weekend of learning and networking, the concept changed, evolved and eventually became what the company is today. Orate took home the 1st place prize. A little more about Sara Capra?When Sara was at the UN Foundation, she cultivated and built partnerships with corporations, other foundations and individuals to further the goals of funding and marketing. She managed and supported many strategic partnerships taking an interest in technology and women.
