Nerdy Show Prime: The Curious Case of Dean Wallace

Nothing could have prepared us for this…

This is both the first episode of Nerdy Show Prime and an unparalleled document of the unusual. Nerdy Show Prime is a new brand of monthly episode dedicated to big topics that take an entire full-length show to discuss. However, we’d pushed aside our originally intended topic to tackle a more pressing matter… the disappearance of our good friend, Dean Wallace.

You may remember Dean from some of our previous episodes such as Duck Hunt and Were the Wild Things Are, if not don’t worry, we’ve got a recap for you. Dean’s an outdoorsman, and he’s had one or two run-ins with the paranormal… including werewolves. During our call-in episode, Dial-A-Dork, Dean’s eldest son, Gary called in… one thing led to another and suffice it to say he claimed he has a big hairy secret and he wanted to take his anger out on his dad. We thought Dean had the situation under control, but he’s been missing for the last two weeks. Cap and Hex visited his house one night only to find it ransacked. The police don’t have any solid leads, and no one knows where Gary is.

This episode was originally put together to spread public awareness of Dean’s disappearance and also to raise social consciousness about the growing numbers of young people willingly becoming vampires, werewolves, and other beasties. To help with this, we’ve partnered with No Fangs – an organization devoted to changing lives by encouraging folks to say “no fangs” to becoming creatures of the night. Joining us for much of the show is Luke McDuffee, songwriter and bassist for alt. rock band Framing Hanley (and a Nerdy Show listener) who travels the country with No Fangs, teaching kids about the folly of turning to paranormal lifestyles. Everything was all good and well… but only a short while into the episode we started to hear strange noises and inexplicable happenings have us questioning our already wavering beliefs… Can ghosts haunt data files like video games and podcasts?

…We can only assure you that everything you hear in this episode is real. What you choose to believe is up to you.
