Collusion confirmed. That's the damning verdict of the Police Ombudsman on the Loughinisland massacre. Ombudsman Dr Michael Maguire found collusion between some police officers and UVF gunmen who killed six Catholics in the attack in Co Down 22 years ago. The report was highly critical of the police investigation into the murders. It also detailed arms smuggling by loyalists, and said Special Branch had a "hear no evil, speak no evil" approach to informers in loyalist paramilitaries The Ombudsman also said there was no evidence police had prior knowledge of the Loughinisland attack
