8/3/16: Midwest Plains at Pacific Northwest
Pacific Southwest beat Midwest Plains 6-2 in six innings on Wednesday at Cal Sr. Yard behind Trayce Young, who went 3-3 at the plate.
Koby Moananu recorded the win for Pacific Southwest. He pitched one shutout inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Andrew Rusin couldn't get it done on the rubber for Midwest Plains, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
The top of the third saw Midwest Plains take an early lead, 1-0. Midwest Plains' rally started when Nate McHugh singled.
Pacific Southwest survived Midwest Plains' surge and put up one run of its own in the third. Pacific Southwest scored on an RBI double by Peyton Hino. Pacific Southwest never trailed after scoring five runs in the fourth on three singles.
After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Midwest Plains faced just a 6-2 deficit. An RBI single by Elliot Bowen triggered Midwest Plains' comeback. Reece Carganilla ended the inning by getting Robert Dembeck to ground out.
