Reimagining Edgware Road (Bakerloo)

"The approach to the project was twofold: an artistic/philosophical outlook and the desire to put test software I had recently acquired.

At first I visited the station. As there are two different Edgware Road tube stations I wanted to make sure to assign the correct station to the pre-recorded sound. After confirming that it is indeed the stop on the Bakerloo line, I recorded the environment and also visited several streets around the station to get a better feel of the location and possibly even to creating some memories myself. After spending time in the area, I decided to include a blend of Arabic influences to the original sound. The idea was to capture the current conflict within society between tradition and prevalent practices of capitalism.

The composition is pivoting around the rhythm of the tracks and the wheels of an arriving train in the station and modifications of this sound snippet. At some point the vocals and Ud of the song ‘Lamento Andalusi’ blend into the rhythm of the ever moving train."
