Reports that almost £2 million will be pumped into a so-called 'Twitter Squad' to help tackle abuse on social media. Volunteers would be trained to seek out anything they deem inappropriate on social networks, report it to officers who'll attempt to track them down and prosecute them. The report seen by The Mail says Scotland Yard will have five detectives running it. It would include issues like racist abuse and death threats. However some are critical and say this is the ‘thought police’ and in danger of undermining freedom of speech.
