Could controversial 50/50 PSNI recruitment policy make a comeback?

Has the end of 50/50 recruitment made the PSNI a colder house for Catholics? That's the question posed by Belfast Telegraph columnist Malachi O'Doherty. At present the police workforce is comprised of 67 percent protestants and 31 percent of catholics. That's an increase of just one percent of catholics since 50/50 recruitment ended in 2011. The PSNI has now commissioned an independent research project into how to recruit, under-represented groups.
