In the US, the unthinkable has happened. Controversial Republican candidate Donald Trump has won the election… something that the political pundits and pre election polls had ruled out.

For example - A poll from Huffington Post earlier this week had shown a very minor probability of the Trump victory. Similar opinions came through most of the polls.

So what went wrong? Parallels can be drawn between Brexit referendum and Trump victory. Why the polls are failing to predict the outcome?

To answer these questions, we talked to Thom Brooks, Head of Durham Law School. Brooks says, “The older angry white voter came out to support Trump in a way bigger number than anticipated by most polls”.
