Stormont has rejected a ban on animal snares, despite pressure from political parties and welfare groups. Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister Michelle McIlveen has defended her decision. She says there is a need to use them to protect farm animals and game birds from predators like foxes. But Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle says it is a "cruel practice" and wants to see a "total ban".
