Student PSNI officers in exam cheating scandal - #BBCNolan reveals cost to public purse

The Nolan Show can reveal that it has cost nearly half a million pounds in additional cost to retrain student PSNI officer involved in an exam cheating scandal. This comes on the back of a damning report into how the PSNI train their student officers, that we discussed on this programme last week. It likened their training facility Garnerville to a military style boot camp and highlighted a number of concerns, with 50 recommendations for change. The review, led by Police Scotland, was ordered after an exam cheating scandal involving 55 student officers earlier this year. When the scandal emerged in June, Chief Constable George Hamilton said the student police officers must go back to the start of their 22-week training programme and repeat it. We have gone back to the PSNI to ask how much was the additional cost of training those officers - the answer? £414,013.
