The crack cocaine of gambling, that's how the former CEO of Paddy Power bookies described fixed odds betting terminals, according to the Times newspaper. In a submission to the Irish government, Stewart Kenny said the machines, which allow punters to gamble £100 every 20 seconds, are dangerously addictive. Mr Kenny also said that the British government was "as addicted to the tax revenue from the machines as vulnerable customers are to losing money from them". The Irish government didn't legalise the machines in the end. So is it time for a ban here or more regulation? Commentators Tom Slater and Niamh Horan debate
