PSNI tell #BBCNolan they are investigating allegations relating to child sexual abuse in NI linked to football clubs

Breaking news this morning on the Nolan Show. The PSNI have told us that they are investigating a number of allegations in relation to historical child sexual abuse linked to football clubs. They say they are working closely with all of the sporting bodies to ensure effective safeguarding is in place. It is less than three weeks since ex-Crewe defender Andy Woodward waived his right to anonymity to say that he was a victim of sexual abuse as a young footballer. Since then, more than 20 former footballers - including ex-youth players, trainees and professionals - have also come forward with allegations of historical abuse in football in England. Stephen talks to Jim Gamble who used to be the head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.
