Pierz Pioneers vs West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville Knights 2017 Class A Semifinals

The 2nd seeded Pioneers avenged their only loss of the season with a 35-21 defeat of the 3rd seeded Knights at the Excel Energy Center during the State Wrestling Tournament. Lukas Popp's win by Fall late in his match at 126 started a run of 4 straight victories, including Brandon Ortman's 5-3 win over eventual Individual State Runner-up Jake Nohre. Andrew Tomala's 5-3 win over Kaden Spindler was also a huge swing match at 145. Brett Kapsner won by Fall as did Troy Fischer. Matt Kummet and Carson Huls won by Major Decision while Reese Kapsner won his match at 138 to help Pierz move on to the Class A State Championship.
