Episode #59 - Valkyrie

Mar 19, 2014, 06:00 AM

Karen and Natalie are joined by special guest Donya to recap the penultimate episode of Teen Wolf season 3, "Insatiable."

Featured Song: "Look Out" by James Vincent McMorrow

- Our guest host this week is Not Another Teen Wolf teamster Donya Abramo!
- As usual we start with our favorite quotes. We're mostly glad to see the return of Stiles/Isaac banter, but we also wax lyrical about Coach in this episode. We didn't think it was possible to hate that Eichen House orderly more!
- First up - who pulled the fly out of Derek? Was it Chris? Does their bromance extend that far?
- If Chris Argent is staying around Beacon Hills, is he gonna flat out adopt Derek?
- Throw-up Stiles = Real Stiles or New and Improved Stiles.
- The Stilinskis reunite at the police station. Also, is Parrish supernatural? What was with that little hint there? Donya blows our minds with a theory about who he might be.
- We weren't that shocked to hear Meredith was officially a banshee.
- Derek saves the twins from a mystery shooter - is this the start of the season 4 plot? Tell us what's not possible, Chris!
- Did Isaac lie to Allison about their hookup? We examine the fly possession situation again.
- Coach's comment about healthcare sends the two non-American hosts off on a bit of an incredulous rant.
- Stiles being cold - could this be to do with Malia? She has the same issue. What's up with Malia anyway? This feels unfinished.
- Allison crafts her silver arrowhead as hunter graduation - she's unsatisfied with the end result, asks what's missing. Is that something that will come in again?
- We've been thinking Allison was evil all season... oops. Will she feature in any way next episode? Is she part of the trick?
- Stiles vs Nogitsune - will killing one kill the other, or give strength to the other?
- Void Stiles is nearly unrecognisable as the same person - snaps for Dylan.
- Will Lydia and Meredith become a strange crimefighting banshee team? Can you imagine their dialogue?
- Agent McCall's reveal, while grave, was kind of underwhelming. What was the point of this plot line exactly?
- Kira goes head to head with her mom in a game of Go... and in other circumstances.
- What is Noshiko's deal now anyway? Is it that she doesn't want Stiles saved because she'd feel too upset at the lost potential to save Rhys?
- But the real point of this whole episode - "Basically, Allison has died."
- We discuss the circumstances surrounding this plot, including the fact that Crystal wanted to leave Teen Wolf and that it's considered a huge gesture of goodwill in the industry to be released from a contract in that way.
- We're upset that she died, but would have Allison, at this stage in her development, ever left Beacon Hills and the pack in any other way?
- We discuss the statistics surrounding female death on the show. While this particular death was a valid plot choice, were some of the others, perhaps?
- How will this death affect the characters, particularly Lydia, Scott and Chris?
- This is actually a rare opportunity for the writers of a show based in horror/violence. They wouldn't often get the chance to make such a huge impact with character death.
- We chat a bit more about Crystal's departure interview, including her own Allison headcanons.
- Due to everyone being traumatised, will season 4 be a romance free zone?
- Will there be a time jump or an immediate aftermath - a funeral and such? How do they explain the violent deaths of so many students at that school?
- We discuss some feedback regarding whether the Bite could have saved Allison.
- Donya has some mythology headcanons about what might happen to Allison after death, and how she may possibly return to the show in some way.
- Did we suspect the death was going to be Allison? We talk a lot about our feelings.
- In our non sequitur section, Karen has us reliving our worst injuries. Thanks, Karen.
- We're all excited to see each other at BiteCon.
- Next week will feature our listener guest host, as voted by you! Voting is still open!
