KC Closeup: Eclipse Talk / Swan Races / Head For The Cure
A busy KC Closeup today... first, a Swan Race on the Missouri river? Stefan White from Friends of the Park joins us to talk about today's event at Berkley Riverfront Park. As talk of the sun and moon eclipses all other stories, we dig into the science of eclipses with Daniel McIntosh, PhD, Astronomer and Astrophysicist at UMKC. Daniel fills us in on the best place in the metro to see the eclipse, why we have to wear glasses and what actually happens during "totality." Then we talk about an eclipse party happening all weekend long in downtown Independence, MO. Tonight you can see the movie "ET" on the town square, followed by numerous eclipse activities on Monday. Finally, a preview of our chat with Brad Eastman, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor four years ago. Brad will be taking part in next week's Head for the Cure 5k run/walk.
