AFTRTHOUGHT speaks to Dr Dave Huffley ethics and driverless cars
Would you trust your car? Take your eyes off the road and hands off the wheel? You will be doing this sooner than you think. Germany has recently released a set of ethical guidelines surrounding driverless vehicles. This addresses the trolley dilemma (sacrifice 1 person for the sake of 5 others) and other aspects like who would be liable if an accident occurred.
AFTRS FM spoke to Dr Dave Huffley, Senior Lecturer of Applied Ethics from Griffith University about what guidelines will mean for the development of these cars.
