The Taioseach Leo Varadkar has said he expects Dublin to have real and meaningful involvement in Northern Ireland if efforts to restore powersharing fail. He also said that he would not support a return to straight direct rule from Westminster and if talks fail, he insisted there could be only two options - fresh elections or convening the British Irish Intergovernmental conference.
