#163: Remembering Combat Jack

Jan 01, 2018, 11:32 PM

This week on A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, we pay tribute to our friend and podcast kingpin Reggie Osse AKA Combat Jack, who passed away two weeks ago from cancer at the far-too-young age of 53. Reggie, father of four, friend to many, and inspiration to millions more, holds a special place in hip-hop history thanks to his duel careers in law and journalism. We're proud to present a replay of our amazing 2015 interview with Reggie, where he went into great detail on themes that would come up years later, at last week's memorial service: his appreciation for Buddhism, his love for education and the arts, his devotion to his family, his bravery in switching careers when monetary success wasn't enough, his roots in Brooklyn, riding on the outside of trains up to The Bronx, tracking down Puff Daddy in a sauna to secure clientele, being in the studio with Biggie as he recorded Hypnotize, creating his own broadcasting empire, speaking at college graduations, and much more. Please enjoy the words and journey of a great man, Reggie Osse. Long live Combat Jack.
