Episode 21: Edward Maps | Deaths and Disappearances
The case we are covering today takes us all the way back to 1962 in Stroudsburg, PA on the night of January 21st. There is a fire blazing at the house of the Maps family at 510 Sarah Street. In the wreckage of the fire two people were found. First, was 22 year old Christine. She was bludgeoned, bruised and unconscious and rushed immediately to the hospital. Next was the body of Christine’s four month old baby daughter, Julia Louise. She was covered in blankets and was deceased before emergency responders reached her in her crib, her cause of death being smoke inhalation. However, there was someone missing from the scene. Christine’s husband and the father of Julia Louise, the eccentric Edward Maps was nowhere to be found. In fact Edward Maps would never be seen again. Because he was a prime suspect in the murders of his family he landed himself a spot next to the most notorious criminals in the United States on the FBI’s Most Wanted list from 1967 until 1971. But is it possible that Edward was not responsible for the fire that night and the tragedy that would follow? Was he a victim himself? Tonight we will go over the details of the Maps case and the mysteries surrounding it.
