Hype Special #28 - Discussing the sound of 'Baby Driver' with Oscar nominee Julian Slater
Edgar Wright's Baby Driver kept us on the edge of our seats with its tale of a high stakes getaway driver named Baby (Ansel Elgort), and his struggle to get out of the business he's been locked into.
The story may have gotten our heart pumping, but the added element of sound that courses throughout the film is what truly makes the Academy Award nominated film so spectacular.
In this special episode of Hype Podcast, our co-host Pamela Gocobachi sits down with 2018 Oscar nominee Julian Slater ahead of Sunday night's awards to discuss how he went about creating the journey of sound that's featured in Edgar Wright's unique film.
Julian Slater, who served as the film's sound designer/supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer, scooped up two of Baby Driver's three nominations this year, including a solo nod for Best Achievement in Sound Editing, and one for Best Achievement in Sound Mixing alongside Tim Cavagin and Mary H. Ellis.
