#r4today 22/6/18 Sir Roger Singleton on the @churchofengland 2010 'review' of clerical abuse. 40k files were reduced to 13 cases of #CSA from all 42 dioceses.
Sir Roger is seen as a 'safe pair of hands' by CofE. He claims that survivors are now listened to by the church, yet the headline in this BBC News report https://bbc.in/2Ig4EUV demonstrates they're not.
As for his response to mandatory reporting and safeguarding in the church today (i) here is our review of CofE safeguarding which is dysfunctional http://bit.ly/2FooYlu . The review featured significantly in the recent IICSA Anglican hearing. And (ii) Sir Roger claims that the church has 'strengthened its (safeguarding) guidance' which is an absurd suggestion. 'Strengthened guidance' remains 'guidance' which is always discretionary. Sir Roger does not need this explaining to him.
