With death toll rising over 100 and more than one lakh people living in relief camps across the state, a red alert was sounded in 11 of the 14 Kerala districts. The Centre on Thursday deployed all three wings of the armed forces in a massive rescue operation. Helicopters airlifted stranded families from rooftops and dam gates were thrown open as heavy rain brought fresh havoc. North and central Kerala has been worst hit by the floods. Cochin airport has been shut till Saturday after water flooded the complex. Southern Railways and Kochi Metro today suspending their operations due to floods . Anusha Bhattacharya gives more insights
