The 2018 Asian Games formally opened in Jakarta on Saturday, August 18. The event is being co-hosted by the city of Palembang, capital of the province of South Sumatra. Forty-five Asian nations are participating in the 2018 edition. In certain events, like rowing and women’s basketball, North Korea and South Korea will compete as a single Korea team, as they did at the 2018 winter Olympics.
