In Conversation With Justin Fleming
Today’s ‘in the arts’ is all about a brilliant Australian playwright whose most recent work, titled the Misanthrope- is about to open at Sydney’s beautiful Opera House.
His name is Justin Fleming and he HAPPENS to be the uncle of AFTRS very own Katie Flemming.
The Misanthrope is the most recent of many plays to be translated by Justin- from the original works of Moliere, a 17th century playwright, actor and poet widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the French language.
Justy translates these works into english, using rhyming couplets throughout the whole show, all while making the content appeal to a 21st century australian audience.
Jerome & Katie were lucky enough to sit down with him yesterday to discuss The Misanthrope and his unique relationship with Moliere.
