Match Of My Life Legendary Everton Midfielder Kevin Sheedy Shares his footballing Memories with Steve Hothersall
Kevin reflects on his time at Liverpool and how he eventually secured a move to the Blues
opportunities proved limited at rivals Liverpool and after just a handful of appearances, he joined Everton for a fee of £100,000 in 1982.
In making the transfer he became the first player to swap a red shirt for a blue one since Johnny Morrissey 20 years earlier.
It was to prove a switch that would prove hugely successful for both Sheedy and the Blues - with the wide player proving on countless occasions why the Reds were hasty to let him go.
During his decade at Goodison Park, Sheedy played 369 times for Everton, scoring 97 times and winning three major domestic honors - the Division One Championship in 1984/85 and 1986/87, and the FA Cup in 1984. He assisted in the European Cup Winners’ Cup success in 1985 and netted in the 3-1 triumph over Rapid Vienna in Rotterdam.
