Departure Lounge with Bastille - Dan Smith

Episode 265,   Jan 21, 2019, 12:31 AM

UK four-piece Bastille are one of the most instantly recognizable and unstoppable pop forces in British music today.

Their debut album, 2013’s 'Bad Blood', landed immediate traction with fans, featuring multi-platinum mega-hit ‘Pompeii’ (463 million+ YouTube views) and singles ‘Flaws’ and ‘Laura Palmer’.

2016’s 'Wild World' continued the trend, giving the band a #1 album debut in the UK with tracks such as ‘Good Grief’ and taking them from quintessential alternative popsters to festival favorites in just a few years.

Recently it’s all been about their smash hit collaboration with Marshmello, ‘Happier’, following on from their collaboration on Craig David’s ‘I Know You’.

Bastille’s long-awaited 'Other People’s Heartache Pt.4' mixtape is out now and begins with a stark cover of Cat Stevens ‘Wild World’ and closes with a similar re-work of their own ‘wild world’ quoting song ‘Warmth’. It also includes their new single with Seeb 'Grip'.

The new collection of covers and collaborations serves as a bridge between the sentiments found on the band’s No.1 award-winning second album of the same name and their highly-anticipated third album due late Spring 2019.

Frontman Dan Smith checked into the Departure Lounge with Stampsy and Jamie to talk about their Australian Open appearance and the Australian tour.

It became apparent quickly that Dan is very humbled by his success. Meanwhile we work out that Dan and Stampsy could be separated at birth!

Hear Dan talk about life as a sport loving kid, his next physical challenge; taking on the London marathon and his craziest on stage injury.
