Theatre Development Officer - Marina Maleni π¨πΏ
Season 1, Episode 42, Jul 03, 2019, 06:00 AM
For episode 42 we visited the Prague Quadrennial (PQ) and caught up with Theatre Development Officer, Marina Maleni.
Marina studied a combination of Fine Arts, Sociology & Drama in Texas, returning to her native Cyprus to work as an actress, firstly in the theatre but then extending into film, tv & radio.
She discusses how her current role at Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) arose from a challenge and how moving from the stage to an office desk was a bit of a culture shock. Working to promote theatre across Cyprus; from partnering with organisations to collaborating with teachers ensuring the next generation gets an opportunity to experience the dramatic arts earlier on, Marina is truly passionate about what she does.
Part of her role is also curation and she was in Prague celebrating her recent project by artists Elena Kotsavilli and Alexis Vayianos titled: Status Quo. The Prague Quadrennial devotes time and space to showcase the best of design for performance, scenography, and theatre architecture.
Having held the position of Theatre Development Officer for nearly 19 years, Marina shares that one of the things she most enjoys about the job is that it creates endless opportunities for meeting and connecting with people.
