Departure Lounge with Adam Elliot

Episode 331,   Aug 23, 2019, 01:56 AM

Adam Elliot is an Oscar Award winning independent stop-motion animation writer and director. He has become one of the world's most celebrated animators with films including Uncle, Cousin, Brother, Harvie Krumpet and Max and Mary.
In 2003 Harvie Krumpet, narrated by Geoffrey Rush, won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, eclipsing the work of the Disney, Pixar and Fox studios. The Annecy International Animation Festival included Harvie Krumpet as one of the top 100 animated films of all time.
In 2009, Max and Mary won numerous Australian and international film awards. It was the official selection opening night film for Robert Redford's 2009 Sundance Film Festival - the first Australian and first animated film to be selected.
He was declared a Melbourne Icon by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, and he has a feature film due for release in 2020.
Adam will be in Geelong for the Geelong Small Business Festival as part of DIFVic. His presentation will be a bit about his career, the Oscar win, time in Hollywood etc and also about the work he has put into building his animation career, the changes in technology and innovation and the impact on the animation industry.
Adam checked into the Departure Lounge with Stampsy and Andy to talk about his (lack of) patience and where innovation is going in 2020.
