Notable Notes:
What the Internet has to say:
- This article from Life Hack provides a list of 7 things we can do when we feel like giving up. From applying a new perspective, to listening to your favorite music; this one has some very tangible tips for those times of low motivation!
What Jen + Jill have to say:
- Go back to your ‘why’ - sometimes we can start with a vision in mind, but end up so far away from that original idea. We like the recommendation to revisit your 'why' every 90 days. This provides another reason regularly budgeting is a good idea!
Also consider if your ‘why’ is worthwhile! A lack of motivation may come from not genuinely embracing your 'why'.
See Ep. 17 all about 'defining your why'
-
Learn to feel uncomfortable! This too will help us weather those storms of low motivation or even feeling deprived!
-
We like the encouragement towards persistence - understanding and believing that persistence delivers results will keep you moving forward. SO go through the motions - even if your 'passion' is not there!
-
Share your goals - having accountability with others can assist in moving forward even when we don't feel like it!
-
Acknowledge the challenges - recognizing that challenges will come will help you weather them, and build resilience when they DO come
-
We like the suggestion to 'get happy' by thinking back to last time you felt fulfilled and incorporating some of those things that were happening then into your life now
-
Be proud of accomplishments - take time to celebrate - these moments of acknowledging success will also help to build resilience for seasons of wanting to 'give up'
More from the Internet:
- This article from Zen Habits encourages us very lovingly to 'get off our butts'! Of course, these do provide some excellent tips (16 to be exact) on how we can get up, get moving, and regain motivation!
More from Jen + Jill:
A few of our favorites from the article -
-Get support - it is difficult to accomplish something alone - find someone who understands your goals and let them in on your progress and barriers
-Start small - really small! This is especially good advice when motivation is GONE!
-Focus on the benefits - not just the difficulties
-Focus on one goal - things can get overwhelming if we’re focusing on too much, narrow it down
-Realize there’s an ebb and flow - it's not al passion and success all the time. Lacking motivation and wanting to give up is part of the journey; push through it!
