#31: Private Prisons Are A Crime Against Humanity
Jun 17, 2020, 04:00 AM
Capitalism can be a great thing, but there are aspects of American society where making money should not be the focal point. Profiting from the incarceration of human beings is along the same line as owning slaves, and in some cases in American prisons, indistinguishable from one another.
America has 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prisoners. Something has gone terribly wrong, and when the private prison industry was introduced to the United States the population of jails, prisons, and immigration detention centers exploded, putting millions of people behind bars, and billions of dollars in the pockets of investors, law firms, judges, and politicians.
See how dirty the private prison industry really is, and what that means for the millions of people both behind bars, and those left on the outside that is trying to keep their lives together in light of the incarceration of their family member.
