Dr. Rob Pate

Rob Pate was first recruited to play college football as a second grader. That’s right, the future Auburn Safety and Linebacker received his first recruiting letter from Alabama’s Bill Curry in the second grade. During his time at Auburn, he played for two different coaching regimes. An All SEC Safety as a sophomore, he moved to a hybrid linebacker when Tommy Tuberville took over. After his college playing days, he wrote the book A Tiger’s Walk: Memoirs of an Auburn Football Player. He has written a second book The Way of the Athlete, The Role of Sports in Building Character for Academic, Business and Personal Success. He studied Physical Therapy at Auburn, but changed his professional course and now works as an Optometrist in Auburn.
