Thomas Gossom, Jr. was a walk on wide receiver coming to Auburn from John Carroll High School. The Birmingham native quickly earned a scholarship and lettered three seasons from 1972-74 and became the first African American football player to graduate from Auburn. After giving the NFL a try, Gossom focused on other projects including stage, film, writing, television and more.
