Stawberry picking season underway with mainly local labour

Tasmanian fruit growers have been facing a shortage of seasonal harvest workers, traditionally recruited from interstate and overseas due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The shortage had threatened the Tasmanian berry and other fruit industries, but has now been averted with local labour.
Martin Agatyn visited one of Coast Berries North-West Coastal strawberry farms at Wesley Vale today and spoke to Costa Berries Tasmanian Regional Manager Cameron Folder and Costa employee, Blaine Astell, who has worked there for the past nine years . . .
