"It's in Black and White!" with Brian Calle

Brian Calle - CEO and Publisher of L.A. Weekly the Village Voice, Irvine Weekly and the Bay Area Marina Times, joins Alan as they talk about how over 200 newspaper companies have shut down in 2020 as they try to figure out how to pivot from having print only, while magazines like Entrepreneur is still one of the few still in physical print and thriving.  They continue onto discuss how different media groups report different facts and opinions on the same story.  Brian says, reporter are giving feeds based off of what they are hearing instead of real investigating.  He continues to say how media companies need to have a more integrated approach to their business with a combination of print and online.  With that said, Brian says having a good search engine helps optimize your brand and that there is a true science behind marketing in todays digital world.  He also goes onto share about teaching classes and bringing in guest speakers who have succeeded at building a company.  Brian says he learns from his students as well.  The duo end todays show as the ponder on what is considered normal these days, and how it is constantly changing and evolving.
