Fiona Hill Pulls Back the Curtain on Russia and Vladimir Putin

Very few people understand Vladimir Putin, Russia, and U.S.-Russia relations better than our guest today, Fiona Hill, who became a national figure when she testified during the first impeachment of Donald Trump. We discuss Russia, Vladimir Putin, the recent demonstrations in support of Putin’s chief opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, U.S.-Russia relations since 2016, and the road ahead for the Biden administration.

Fiona is now a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute and is hard at work on a new book due out in September, “There Is Nothing For You Here: Opportunity in An Age of Decline.” She previously served as Deputy Assistant to President Trump and Senior Director for European and Russian affairs on the National Security Council from 2017 to 2019. Earlier in her career, from 2006-2009, under Presidents Bush and Obama, she was an intelligence analyst for the National Intelligence Council.
