Mysteries and Monsters: Episode 85 Into The Twilight Zone with Arlen Schumer

Sep 07, 2020, 09:52 AM

In October 1959, Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone made its television debut, and for the next 5 years, over 156 episodes, would take us to places we had only imagined possible. Stories of time travel, supernatural revenge, murderous dolls, aliens amongst us, nuclear war and ghosts saw some of the biggest talent in acting, writing and directing appear on our screens.

Serling took us on a journey that has seen the shows influence transcend the decades and despite the three attempts reboot the show (in the 1980's, 2002 and currently under Jordan Peele) the original show still remains unmatched.

Joining me to discuss the pop culture phenomenon is artist, historian and lecturer, Arlen Schumer. Arlen has given numerous webinars and lectures covering his love of pop culture and released his own art book "Visions of the Twilight Zone".

Arlen discusses his favourite episodes, the enduring legacy of the show and the themes that ran through the 5 seasons of this incredible show.
