Ana Consuelo Matiella and her daughter, Sada Naegelin, of De Las Mias, decided to take the health issue of Diabetes within the Latino community into their own hands by researching data on Latinas, Diabetes and Obesity. The research study they created was the fire they needed to commission a 1 million dollar grant from the NIHNCI to build the bilingual digital health and wellness platform of De Las Mias, which is available through iTunes and Google Play App stores. Mother and daughter, using their combined skill sets, understood the power of Latinas using technology as a way to influence a healthier lifestyle and food choices for Latinas by using generational wisdom.
