Hearing Dances with Audio Description By Young People, For Young People

‘Hearing Dances’ is a recent accessible digital dance performance project by Second Hand Dance company with audio description developed by young people from the company with Audio Describer Jenny Cosgrove providing a fully accessible dance performance for everyone. 

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey court up with two of the team behind ‘Hearing Dances’, Second Hand Dance Artistic Director Rosie Heafford and Audio Describer Jenny Cosgrove to find out more about this fully accessible digital dance project and performance.

Rosie began by giving a bit of background to Second Hand Dance, the development of the digital online dance project ‘Hearing Dances’ and the involvement of the young people from Second Hand Dance on the audio description along with a visually impaired writer and choreographer.

Jenny outlined her involvement in the project as an Audio describer, the work with the young people on the description for ‘Hearing Dances’ and how working with the young people has maybe given Jenny a fresh look on description for some of her other audio description work.
