Dr. Reggie Edgerton received his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Michigan State University, Masters from University of Iowa and BS from East Carolina University. He is currently the Director of the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory and a Distinguished Professor of the Departments of Neurobiology and Neurosurgery. He is also the chair of the scientific advisor board and Co-Founder of SpineX. He has been teaching and conducting research at UCLA for over 40 years. His research is focused on how the neural networks in the lumbar spinal cord of mammals, including humans, regain control of standing, stepping and voluntary control of fine movements after paralysis, and how can these motor functions be modified by chronically imposing activity-dependent interventions after spinal cord injury.

Parag graduated from Mumbai University, Mumbai, India in 2008 with a Bachelors in Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. In the fall of 2008, he started grad school at UCLA working under Dr. V Reggie Edgerton towards his masters and PhD. in Biomedical Engineering. He received his masters and PhD in 2010 and 2013 respectively. Both his masters and PhD thesis were focused on locomotion rehabilitation and improvement in bladder function using spinal cord stimulation after paralysis. Parag has been working as a Scientist at UCLA in the department of Neurobiology under Dr. V Reggie Edgerton’s guidance. In 2019 Parag Co-founded SpineX Inc. and took on the role as founding CEO.
