Photo: Lada Samara 1500 hatchback (UK, Dec '92): a small Russian car possibly of the sort Vl. Putin drove in the early 'Nineties when the KGB was temporarily out of cash to pay its staff.
(All Ladas, Nivas, Zaporizhias, and their ilk were standard transmission, relatively simple to repair, and not as durable as one might wish; but they handled well enough and functioned in snow and ice.)
(Small addendum: In truth, Zaporizhias were notorious for breaking down far from the nearest home, let alone repair shop. However, they were fairly lightweight and could be pushed.)
