Episode 17: Designing your creativity through collaboration and visualization with Jennifer Vogt

Jennifer has thirty years of experience in entertainment. For the First decade of her career, Ms. Vogt worked as a freelance producer and art director, working with major studios and Broadway production companies to conceive, design and execute more than 150 feature Films, broadcast TV, live theater, themed entertainment and international productions. 

Her experience also includes finance, consulting and internal audit positions of increasing responsibility at KPMG, DreamWorks Animation, and Hewlett Packard Company. Operating her own consulting business, Jennifer was instrumental in closing the deal for Oriental DreamWorks, DreamWorks Animation’s Chinese Joint Venture and while she simultaneously worked with the design and programming team to design DreamCenter, a $2.4 Billion dollar real estate development in Shanghai. In addition, she integrated three acquisitions and ensured accurate revenue reporting for DreamWorks Animation’s network subsidiaries. 

As the Star Wars Portfolio, Show Design and Production Executive of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s largest themed land expansion in its history developed simultaneously in Orlando, Florida and Anaheim, California, Jennifer was responsible for delivering the Creative Show scope of the project including, all scenery, lighting, animated figures, themed interiors, props, special effects, audio and media. While shepherding this project through development, Jennifer was the project leader in launching Imagineering’s first production asset software tool, Shotgun. In addition, Jennifer devised innovative vendor arrangements, resulting in a cohesive design and production team. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge was hailed as the most successful land in Disney’s history, winning multiple TEA awards for its design. 

At MSG, Jennifer was tapped to be the President of Creative Content to build the company’s new creative studio. She built the new studio, MSG Sphere Studios, from the ground up, from the operations to finance and hired some of the best talent in the industry to create an innovative studio of the future which combined the traditionally separated arts sectors and leveraged new technologies. 

Currently, Jennifer is the founder of Atelier Cielo e Prato, a new global production and design company located in Florence, Italy. While in Italy, Jennifer is taking advantage of the renaissance design techniques by honing her fine art craft.

Ms. Vogt is a former Member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She has been recognized by UCDavis for a distinguished achievement award in 2021-22 and the industry with numerous design awards and nominations, including an Art Directors Guild Award for the 73rd Academy Awards Oscar’s telecast which also received an Emmy nomination. Jennifer was part of the Emmy winning design team for the 71st Academy Awards and the Tony awarded team for Broadway’s Peter Pan and Not About Nightingales. 

Ms. Vogt holds a dual BFA and MFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and an MBA from the Graduate School of Management at University of California, Davis
