Episode 126: The Route 40 Killer
Apr 24, 2022, 08:43 PM
According to statistics from the FBI only 1% of murders are the result of serial killers. Yet for some reason they occupy 99% of my brain when it comes to my true crime fears. But that is because they activate an innate fear that we have. A fear that we will fall victim to the only thing that is still truly terrifying to us as adults, the sometimes sadistic nature of mankind.
In 1987-1988 the state of Delaware, specifically the New Castle area, was gripped in fear. A man was abducting women from Route 40 and torturing them before brutally killing them. It would take long hours of good police work and a consultation with the Behavioral Sciences Unit of the FBI but eventually justice was won for the families of the five victims.
